Tonights excursion into another slice of life that many of the people that may stumble here may not be accustomed to. Chicano Rap, Mexican Rap, and Latin Hip-hop are types of music that are a mainstay in many parts of California. It's only as localized as income levels and cultures are. This music has a way of speaking to my past, present and future simultaneously. I certainly hope you give this episode a chance, as you may be surprised by what you din't know you didn't know. Sometimes not knowing is awfully fun to dance to.
This music is very much art for the ear. To me, art is something created out of nothing but a strong desire to express. We use the tools that are avaliable to us, and we ususally end up expressing ourselves in a fashion that acknoledges our past and supports our future. Chicano rap is very much a binding of cultural pasts and present, with an eye on the future.
